The Exhibition
Rottingdean Parish Council has confirmed St Aubyn’s Chapel as the venue for LightKeep’s first full exhibition in 2027. The exhibition will bring together the definitive portraits printed at scale, companion photographs and written records — every life, told plainly, in print. Exact dates, charging, security, heating, access and installation arrangements will be agreed with the Council in September and announced here. Entry will be free, and the people in the portraits will see the exhibition before anyone else does.

The exhibition ends. The archive doesn’t. Every portrait, film and written account remains in the online archive — free, permanent, open — and in print, deposited in the village for good.
Access
LightKeep is made with people in their eighties and nineties. Many don’t drive. Most don’t use the internet. Almost none of them would call themselves gallery-goers. A project made for them has no business being hard to reach — so here, plainly, is how the work reaches people. With a screen or without one.
In person. Portraits and conversations happen at home. Nobody travels to LightKeep; it travels to them. The exhibition will be held in the village itself, at an accessible venue, free of charge, with seating and assistance throughout. All written material will be available in large print.
Online, with help. The online archive is free and open — no accounts, no advertising, nothing to install. Films are subtitled. Images carry written descriptions. And LightKeep is taking advice from digital inclusion specialists on how the archive reaches people for whom the internet is a barrier — details will be announced here.
In print. The exhibition will include portraits and written records as physical displays, with printed material available so the work can be experienced without a device. A printed catalogue will accompany the exhibition, and selected records will be deposited with the village archive so the project outlasts any website, including this one.
